Are you considering a remodel or general efficiency updates to your city property? With the increasing cost of materials, any support to offset improvement cost is a relief!
As Bozeman is in a closed basin, which means our water supply is limited, the City has extra incentive to help homeowners and businesses make water wise improvements. Starting from the inside out, the City offers rebates for selecting high efficiency water heads, high efficiency toilets and high efficiency washing machines.
Did you know the City will exchange you a free, new high efficiency shower head for your current shower head? All you need to do is take your existing shower head to the City complexes office and you'll leave with a free, nickel finish, new one! There is a caveat of course, you do have to be a City of Bozeman water customer.
Is your current toilet from before 1994? If so, the City will offer up to $125 towards a new toilet to upgrade to a high efficiency model. If your current potty is post 1994 you may be eligible for $50 towards an upgrade. What a great chance to get that comfort height, dual flush toilet you've been eyeing!
Have you priced out new washing machine or recently upgraded? Oof, I know. But don't fret! You can qualify for up to $150 in rebate dollars from the City of Bozeman for that high efficiency replacement. That helps, right? If you are building and choosing a high efficiency install, you could qualify for $100 for installing a water conscious model.
Now that the inside is handled, what about the water ghosts in the yard? With rising temperatures and an active fire season, we may be on the precipice of water restrictions. Dillon, MT has been under restriction since the end of June and we are likely to follow with at least limited water days. Water days aren't a big burden, if you have a sprinkler system. And if you have a high efficiency system, you can rest a little easier knowing you are taking steps to be a part of the solution. When I installed my sprinkler system in 2015, I had Turf Tech install a high efficiency system. I found out in 2017 that my summer water bill was about 1/2 of my neighbors who had a traditional system, and our lawns were equally green. When my neighbor discovered what my system cost to run, he called Turf Tech and had his system retrofitted.
Are you unsure what type of sprinkler system your property has? The City of Bozeman offers a free sprinkler system assessment. They can help you identify any water wasters (think leaks), show you how to improve efficiency and identify the best water days for your system and landscaping. The only rules to get a free water assessment - you must be connected to the City of Bozeman water supply and home at the time of the assessment.
